Glaucidium nanum (King)

Length 20 – 21 cms.

Head, back and wing coverts brownish grey with some chestnut, and lighter to white mottling. White throat. White superciliar line which drops to the lorums. Breast and abdomen with thick whitish, reddish, brown, and black longitudinal lines. Markings like a collar on the nape not always very visible with white spots with black or sometimes just black. Tail with black and chestnut transverse bands. Short hooked beak, dark near the base and with a yellow tip. Yellow feet. Large yellow eyes.
